Sentence Completion

Single-blank completions with nuanced vocabulary

Explanation

Logic & Tone

At Middle Level, sentences are more complex. Pay attention to:

  • Tone: Is the sentence formal, negative, admiring, critical? The blank must match.
  • Logical flow: Does the blank follow logically from the rest of the sentence?

Example: Despite her initial ______, she quickly adapted to the fast pace of the new school.
"Despite" = contrast; she adapted (positive) → blank must be negative → apprehension, reluctance, trepidation
